48 (ish) Hour Itinerary in Austin, Texas:
No matter how many places I travel to, Austin will always be my favorite destination. I went to college in Austin, so that might have something to do with it, but I think it is so much more than that. There is something about the cool, relaxed vibe, the abundant activities, & the beautiful nature that makes Austin so great.
I have compiled my list of favorite things to do & created a weekend itinerary that I follow on the regular… Now that I say that, I realized I should probably branch out. But, I won’t. Whoops.
Friday:

-
Dinner
- Stand in a well-worth it line for a burger from Hopdoddy’s… Don’t forget the Pretzel+Nutella milkshake and the queso!
-
Activity
- Head to 6th Street to roam the street & head into the bars. My favorite is Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar ($5 cover); the energy in there is always amazing.
- If you aren’t into the bar scene, check out the concert list at Stubb’s, which is a staple concert venue in Austin.
Saturday:
-
Coffee
- Grab the cashew milk + dates + cold brew ice cubes for an INCREDIBLE & filling coffee from Forthright
-
Activity
- Head to Barton Springs for a freezing dip in the natural spring water
-
Brunch
- Tacos at Torchy’s Tacos Food Truck on South 1st (Order the best queso of your life + the Matador, which is off the secret menu – bet you didn’t know about it, did ya?).
- Walk a block away to Gourdough’s Food Truck for a life-changing donut (you will need to share or don’t… but don’t come running to me when you have a sugar-overload)
-
Activity
- Head 1 block over to South Congress St. to check out the unique shops (my favorites are Uncommon Goods, Big Top Candy Shop, & Monkey See Monkey Do).
- Take a picture with the “I love you so much” graffiti, plus grab an Iced Turbo at Jo’s Coffee.
-
Dinner
- Foreign & Domestic (Order the truffle cacio e pepe)
-
Activity
- Go to the bar across the street for innovative cocktails at drink.well
Sunday:
-
Brunch
- Freedman’s Bar for a BBQ Brunch
-
Activity
- If you have access to a boat (there are a number of places to rent one), boat around Lake Austin & stop at Abel’s on the Lake for a Texas Tea (you’ll probably only need one).
- If you want to be more active, go for a run around Town Lake & then rent some paddle boards to cool down.
-
Snack
- Snow cones from SnoBeach (unless you go for a boat day)
-
Activity
- Watch the bats come out from the bat bridge at sunset (kind of creepy, but mostly COOL)
- Or, if you took my Lake Austin boat advice, stop by Mount Bonnell on the way back to the city to watch the sunset

-
Dinner
- Uchi (Best meal of your life! Feel free to ask me what to order because it can be confusing for first-timers)
- P.S.- I am SO sorry I don’t have photos… How dare me? Honestly, photos won’t do it justice, but I will try to go back & take photos because you asked….
